Official high season start in Phuket when Similan, Surin and Rok islands tours are operate in term of wind, weather and number of tourists who coming.
Myself and a team had opportunity to inspection Rok islands trip. From Phuket is quite long ride with speedboat (we went there with speedboat catamaran) by 2 hours from Phuket. After the boat drop the crew to prepare lunch on the island we start the tour with snorkel stop. We have found a lot of clownfish or well known as "Nemo fish" with some corals and giant clams. Later on we are moving on to another spot of snorkel, this stop we see more fishes then we are going to the beach at Rok Nok island (there are 2 islands "Rok Nai and Rok Nok islands) for buffet lunch with soft drink and snacks after free time relaxing or swim from the beach or you can observe the island with nice viewpoint but we relax on the beach, get some traditional photos we like by do jumping shots.
The sand is white and soft just only on the top however it's good enough. Rok islands are in a part of Koh Lanta marine national park so there is a fee to get to the islands. Finish relaxing we are going next to Haa islands (5 islands of the group, Haa is means 5 in Thai)and get the last snorkel at this point. This stop may not be able to stop for snorkel if
very windy because it's very dangerous but we were lucky that day. It's charming and I would say it's one of my favourite snorkelling spot in Thailand. We have seen Fan corals, starfish, Moray eel, jelly fish, and lots more also fun to snorkel through open cave at one of the 5 islands and time to say goodbye, on the way back just see a group of dolphins swim not far from the boat then return back to the port.
We are travel on our own but the company provide land transports to pick up and drop off at the hotel. Water is so clear to see the bottom almost every stops we visited and it's operates only in high season, check out more at http://www.phukettourswithjo.net/jointours-rokislands.
